Exploring the Figure

Drop-in figure drawing with a live model. Embark on a drawing journey exploring your creativity and honing your skills. No formal instruction will be provided. Use this time to satisfy your inner artist.

Please bring your own drawing supplies and paper.

Beginning Painting

Students will learn the basics of acrylic paints and brushes and explore a variety of techniques and subject matter (landscape, self-portrait, and abstraction). We will cover the fundamentals of composition, tone, and blending colors.

Supplies included.

Fiber Arts & Women Artists

A discussion of women fiber artists from history will provide inspiration for students to make their own art through felting, embroidery, and sewing. Projects include a fabric collage book, embroidered artwork, and felted accessories.

How to Get Noticed – Building a Professional Artist Presence

This workshop will prepare students to apply for artist calls, grants, and residencies. Students will review and edit artist statements, artist CVs and bios. Students will also go over goal setting, popular websites to find calls for artists, and how to photograph their work.

Bring a notepad, a pen, and your current artist statement, artist bio, and CV (if you have them).

Art Night at the Blue

Grab your friends and enjoy a night out at the Blue! Spend two hours laughing and making art, while enjoying a glass of your favorite wine. Guided by a professional artist, create your own unique artwork to take home. Each month will focus on a different artistic medium. No experience necessary. Fun is our only requirement.

Pecha Kucha

Workshop participants will learn how to imagine, design and create a Pecha Kucha video about their organization that will serve as a marketing promotional tool for their work – informing and engaging residents and visitors while demonstrating that Placer County is a vibrant and creative place.

Attendees will create their unique story in the Pecha Kucha format.    Pecha Kucha is a worldwide approach to storytelling which keeps presentations concise and fast-paced delivering powerful short messages.
