30 x 30 2019

30x30 Call to Artists Graphic

30 Pieces in 30 days

The 30x30 show is a great way to explore any theme or style by creating one panel that displays 30 works that are 6 inches by 6 inches each, or 3 dimensional work that is no bigger than 6 x 6 x 6 inches.  Use the 30-day work period restraint to challenge yourself to create constantly. Each piece will be sold individually, giving viewers the unique opportunity to take home artwork that they may not be able to afford otherwise.

So, do you accept our challenge?

Eligibility

  • Open to all artists
  • All artwork must be original and completed within the 30-day period
  • Artwork cannot have been previously exhibited at Blue Line Arts
  • All artwork must be for sale
  • Accepted artwork that differs significantly from image in online submission will be disqualified
  • No accepted entry may be withdrawn or sold outside of the exhibition prior to the closing date
  • Blue Line Arts handles all sales transactions. Non-member artists receive a 50% commission from all gallery sales and members receive a 60% commission.
  • The artist is responsible to pay for all shipping and should have a prepaid label
from FedEx or UPS (No US Mail) for return of artwork
  • Applicants must apply online using the application form below. There is a $35 fee for non-members, members may apply for free.

Important Information

  • Each piece of art must be  6”x 6”
  • Layout: 5 pieces across, 6 down
  • The board your pieces will be mounted to should be 36” wide and 48” tall, and must be 3/8” thick plywood.
  • BOTH SIDES of the plywood must be painted with Behr premium white flat paint.
  • You may choose how each piece hangs on the plywood (i.e. nails, hooks, etc.), but the pieces must be ready to hang and you have to have prepared the plywood with the hanging devices.
  • There does not need to be a hanging device on the back of the plywood. We will be screwing the board directly into the wall.
  • Please number each piece on the back so that we know what order to hang them in. (left--> right, beginning at top left corner)
  • If, due to shipping concerns, you are not able to prepare your own hanging board, please contact the gallery for pricing on prepared boards.
  • While the application is open to 3-dimensional pieces, priority will be given to submissions that will hang on a wall.

Price

  • We ask that all 30 pieces of art be priced to be sold individually (i.e. $25 per piece, instead of $1000 for all 30 pieces)
  • While you may determine your own price for each piece, many of the sales in the show last year were in the $25-$65 range.
  • The artist will need to agree that the price submitted in the online call to artist application form will be the price that the work will be sold for and may not change thereafter. Please note, the gallery sales commission is 50% for Non-Members or 60% for current Artist Members.

FAQ

Q: So, I need to complete all 30 works by the submission deadline?  That's a lot of work to do before I know if I'm accepted.

A: No. You should be able to submit 1-3 images of samples of your work that are an accurate representation of what the proposed 30 panels will resemble. These works may be included in your final series given they meet the size requirements.

Q: Do all of the works need to be completed between the artist notification date (Oct 3), and the shipping/ drop-off deadline (Nov. 8th-10th)?

A: Yes, that is the fun and challenge of the show!  That being said, we won't use a polygraph test and we operate on the honor system.  If you made samples to submit to the show, you are safe to include them.  If work differs dramatically from what you submitted online, you may be asked to withdraw.

Q: I am shipping my work from afar and the price of shipping a large plywood board is restrictive - what should I do?

A: Contact the gallery for pricing - with enough notice, we can prepare a board for you here.

Q: I noticed that in this show, pieces are missing from each series through the duration of the exhibition.... Why?

A: This is the only show in which we allow customers to take purchases with them at time of sale, given that the show is near the holiday season and many are intended as gifts.
