After receiving a degree in art and working for three years as a designer and photographer for a publishing company, Donald Satterlee opened his own commercial photo studio. After many years of using large, expensive, film cameras, the fun of using a small format digital SLR has prompted him to invest more time on his personal work. He states that he has always been drawn to black and white images because of an emotional quality that seems to transcend time, and when coupled with the depth created by split toning, they become even more intriguing.
This exhibition will focus on selections from Satterlee in black and white, and includes a series of Venetian scenes, landscapes heavy with fog and atmosphere, and intriguing perspectives on regional architectural features.
Large framed works by Satterlee and a wide selection of unframed, matted prints are available for sale at the gallery.
