Youth & Family Programs
Tue, October 6 / 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Students will take a brief dive into art history to learn about the masters and the paintings they are known for with a focus on artists from diverse cultural backgrounds from around the world. Participants will create their own projects inspired by each artist by using a similar style, art techniques & materials. Enjoy the creative and imaginative process and discover the wide range of methods used by the most well-known artists in the world and then break all the rules to make your own work! All materials and instruction will be provided. Class is limited to 10 students.
Week 1: 9/3 – Tarsila do Amaral: Modernist Expression & Cityscape Paintings
Week 2: 9/10 – Helen Harin: Geometric Folk Art & Self Portrait Paintings
Week 3: 9/17 – Gebre Kristos Desta – Abstract Expressionism & Flower Bouquet Paintings
Week 4: 9/24 – Yayoi Kusama – Contemporary Art & Pop Art Paintings
