2D and 3D come together in this amazing workshop led by Jason Walker!

This workshop is a hands-on opportunity for you to learn how to make sculptural and/or functional objects with porcelain, and combine their forms with 2-dimensional imagery. Jason will demonstrate his methods of hand-building with porcelain and teach his process of painting with underglaze. Various concepts for combining two-dimensional imagery with three-dimensional form will be discussed. He will also demonstrate his use of press molds and slip cast molds. All participants will have the opportunity to try Jason’s hand-building process and use Jason’s underglaze techniques painting on bisque ware or a bone dry piece. Each student will receive one-on-one instruction from the artist.
All materials and instruction are included in the workshop price. Please bring your own lunch or you are welcome to order lunch from nearby cafes and restaurants on Vernon Street.
Teaching Artist: Jason Walker is the 2021 recipient of the Susan Cooley Gilliom Artist in Residence and Teaching Program.
