3-Day Workshop for all Skill Levels with Jason Walker

This workshop is a hands-on opportunity for participants of all skill levels to learn how to make sculptural and/or functional objects with porcelain, and combine their forms with 2-Dimensional imagery.
Jason will demonstrate his methods of hand-building with porcelain and teach his process of painting with underglaze. Various concepts for combining two-dimensional imagery with three-dimensional form will be discussed.
He will also demonstrate his use of press molds and slip cast molds. All participants will have the opportunity to try Jason’s hand-building process and use Jason’s underglaze painting techniques on bisque ware or a bone dry piece. Each student will receive one-on-one instruction.
Materials included in workshop fee:
- one 25lb bag of porcelain clay per participant
Basic tools for working with clay such as
Small container for slip
Tools for painting:
Various water color brushes such as liners, rounds and flats.
A small bowl for water
A small white tile (6“x 6”) for use as a palette (most home décor stores have these for less than $1)
Some small sewing needles for sgrafitto
A graphite pencil with an eraser
