Day 1 | June 22 (6-8pm): Exploration in form: figure studies. We will discuss ideas such as contrapposto, groupings, and creating narrative.
Day 2 | June 23 (10am-3pm): Solid building demonstration concentrating on pairs and groups of figures. Artist Slideshow “The Portrayal of the Human Head.” Demo: Sculpting Heads and Hands.
Day 3 | June 24 (10am-5pm): Artist Slideshow “Color and Form.” Demo: Color and glaze development. Studio Work: Hollowing and preparing sculptures for kiln firing.
This three-day workshop will introduce Michelle’s methods of solid clay construction with an emphasis on improvisation and construction technique. Due to the physical constraints of the material, Students who wish to have their piece bisque fired, should plan to attend an open studio session between the hours of 1-5pm on 6/29/18, to hollow and prepare for the firings.
