Shipping deadline of work to Blue Line Arts: February 23, 2020

Pick up unsold work from Blue Line Arts (optional): March 22 & 23, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

What is Lottery for the Arts?
The Lottery for the Arts is a fundraising event that provides art collectors with an opportunity to acquire original works of fine art, while supporting a non-profit organization and community of artists. Each year Blue Line Arts accepts original art donations from artists or from collections, which are exhibited at the gallery prior to the auction. Throughout the evening of the Lottery event, Lottery tickets purchased by guests in advance are drawn at random. As each ticket is called out, the ticket holder chooses a piece of art from the gallery walls. At the end of the evening, each ticket holder goes home with a work of art valued from $200 up. There will be a live auction of the first 6 picks.

Lottery for the Arts is our organization’s biggest annual fundraiser and is used to fund our year-round art education programs. With a goal of raising over $35,000 this year with the help of our community, we hope to continue to provide high- quality arts programming at the lowest cost possible, and free-of charge to at risk youth and students with financial need. Your artwork donation helps provide the gift of creative learning to the next generation at our non-profit arts center.

ARTIST BENEFITS

Juror: Joanne Neft

For more than 30 years Ms. Neft has been supporting local Northern CA emerging ceramic, metal and painting artists. These artists have gone on to teaching college and university classes across California.  She celebrates their success and continues to be active in the local arts community.

Prizes: Our Juror will be choosing the top prizes of First, Second and Third, and honorable mentions. There will also be a $100 Peoples’ Choice Award, awarded at the close of the exhibition and announced prior to the start of the event.


First Place
Winner will be eligible to receive a Solo Show at Blue Line Arts in the WestPark Workshop Gallery June 19th- July 4th 2020. If winner is unwilling or unable to participate in an exhibition, a cash prize of $500 will be awarded.


Second Place
Winner will be eligible to receive a Solo Show at Blue Line Arts in the Feature Foyer June 19th- July 4th 2020. If winner is unwilling or unable to participate in an exhibition, a cash prize of $300 will be awarded.

Third Place
Winner will be eligible to receive a Solo Show at Blue Line Arts in the Broad Education Gallery June 19th-July 4th 2020. If winner is unwilling or unable to participate in an exhibition, a cash prize of $200 will be awarded.

Exhibition: Approximately 100 pieces of art will be accepted. The exhibit will be on display at the Blue Line Arts March 12th – March 19th, 2020. Visitors will be encouraged to vote for their favorite piece of art. This event is a unique opportunity to connect artists with new collectors who value their work.
Online Gallery & Event: Accepted pieces will appear on the Blue Line Arts’ website for an online preview to the auction. Each piece featured on the website will include the artist’s name, and link to artist statement, website, blog, and/ or Facebook page. Select pieces will also be featured in e-blasts and social media posts on Blue Line Arts’ channels.

Electronic and paper Invitations will be available to each artist to invite their patrons to view the exhibit, vote for their favorite artwork and participate in the Lottery.

Artists Reception & $100 People’s Choice Award: Participating Artists receive free entry for two to a special, ticketed preview reception on Friday, March 13th. Art in Bloom is an event in collaboration with The Petal Connection in which talented local florists will be creating bouquets inspired by works in Lottery for the Arts. The bouquets will be available for auction. Beer, wine, and appetizers will be served.


Eligibility
• Open to all artists 18 and older
• All artwork must be for sale/auction. No accepted entry may be withdrawn or sold outside of the exhibition prior to the closing date.
• Any work donated becomes the property of Blue Line Arts for use in the auction. The artist understands that there is no commission awarded to the Artist on the sale of any donated work.
• Accepted artwork that differs significantly from the image in the online submission will be disqualified
• The artist is responsible to pay for all shipping and must include a prepaid label for return of artwork, if the artist wishes it to be returned in the case it does not sell at auction
– FedEx or UPS ONLY
– No USPS
– Two-dimensional artwork must be ready to hang
– Wire must be installed, No sawtooth hangers

FAQ

Q: Is my donation Tax-Deductible?
A: Yes! We are a registered 501c3 and your donation is tax deductible. However, if you are an artist donating original art, you may only deduct the cost of the materials and supplies used in the creation of the donated work. If you are donating work you previously purchased, an appraisal value is required on all donations over $5,000 in value. Please consult your tax professional if you have further questions about art donations. We are not tax professionals.

Q: I’m not an artist, can I donate artwork?
A: Yes – we accept original work valued $200 or more. We do not accept giclees, but may accept high-value prints into our live auction. Please contact the gallery if you are unsure about your donation.

Q: What happens to my piece if it is not picked/ sold/ auctioned at the event?
A: If you shipped your work with a pre-paid shipping label, we will get in touch regarding returns. If you do not want us to return the piece, we will happily use it for fundraising at future events.

Q: I don’t have any art to donate, what are some other ways to support this event?
A: We are always looking for unique items and experiences for our auction- and wine, and volunteers! Please contact the gallery to learn more about how you can be a part of this fun community event!
