“Dive” is created by an image transfer process. For me, it is a way to make paintings without the useful opacity of paint. Although in traditional and contemporary painting, the opaque quality of paint has proven useful in creating imagery, I find the unpredictable nature of this process meaningful and results in a novel visual experience – via transparency of layered found images. The bottom section of this painting consists of an opaque transfer of found imagery that in some areas is over-painted in a traditional way.
