East End of the Continuum – James Finnegan

Colored pencil, graphite, marker on paper

Artist Statement:

“I’m interested in the beauty of line/For Its potential for description, depiction
For its simplicity and directness/For fluid grace and potential abruptness it can have
For its easy possibility to become a shape/For it being an extension of my arm
I’m interested in certain images and shapes that I see /Certain shapes that happen and resolve themselves as object-like images
I like line that is energetic, chaotic that is made to be rational/Made rational with color
I believe life, our existence is randomly played out and/That we desire to give reason to this
The randomness of my imagery is connected to me, comes from me/Some conscious… some not………..with the possibility of connecting with others
who can take part and give the seemingly randomness of my work meaning.”
