Hidden Vale – Charles de Limur
Oil on canvas
Born in San Francisco, Charley de Limur also grew up in France. “An early appreciation of the California Colorists movement had a primal effect on my art. Childhood years living in Paris also gave me first hand exposure to Impressionists and Pointillists, and with hours reading beautiful French comic books, like Tin Tin, some have also suggested a touch of Magical Realism in my work.”
Charley has exhibited in solo and group shows in SF and Wash. DC, and at Napa Valley Museum and The Sofie Contemporary Arts Gallery. Graduated from Oberlin College with a BA in fine arts, theater and communications, he and his wife now live on Diamond Mountain above Calistoga. His subject matter is usually the hidden landscapes in the forest around him, and he has a series of work that explores the energy and beauty of wildfire, a more recent addition to the local environment. Their two adult children work in the film industry and live in LA, where Charley loves to go explore the vibrant art scene.
