For the 82nd edition, juror Grace Kook-Anderson, The Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Curator of Northwest Art at the Portland Art Museum, selected approximately 80 works from an impressive pool of 2,516 submissions by 643 artists. Reflecting on her process, Kook-Anderson shared, “This year’s submissions included an incredible range of works across mediums, formal considerations, and conceptual frameworks... I was compelled by themes that artists shared and the vulnerabilities that were expressed... we are still grappling with the after-effects of the COVID-19 pandemic; our admiration and concern for the environment feel ever-present... I hope that audiences and patrons will not only indulge and delight in individual works, but consider these themes and subjects that occupy so much of the thoughtfulness of the artists.”
These carefully selected works will be displayed at Blue Line Arts in Downtown Roseville from January 11th through February 22nd. The exhibition will culminate in a distinguished presentation at the Crocker Art Museum from March 9th to May 4th, 2025, where approximately six hand-picked works will take center stage.
The Crocker-Kingsley invites you to step into this world of bold expression and reflection, where the themes of our time—spanning vulnerability, environmental concerns, and the echoes of a shared history—are vividly brought to life.
