Exploring Clay Through Texture & Technique
Adult Programs | SCG
September 18 / 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Get hands-on with clay in this approachable workshop designed for artists of all skill levels. Participants will explore three foundational hand-building techniques—slab, coil, and pinch—while experimenting with a variety of objects and surfaces to create unique textures and impressions in clay.
The workshop will also include a brief introduction to the history of tripod works throughout the ages, providing context and inspiration for creating your own three-legged form.
Through step-by-step demonstrations and guided instruction, participants will develop new clay-working techniques while exploring how personal ideas, experiences, and interests can be incorporated into their work. Whether you’re new to clay or an experienced artist looking to expand your practice, you’ll gain a greater appreciation for the possibilities of this versatile material.
All skill levels are welcome, from beginner to advanced. Participants will leave with an original, completed clay work of their own, along with techniques and instructions they can continue to use—and even share with friends or fellow artists.
Kiln firing services will be included.
Participants will be contacted when fired pieces are ready for pickup.
All materials included.
