Create Your Own Wearable Mask Sculpture
SCG | Adult Programs | Youth & Family Programs
April 25, 2026 / 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
This workshop will focus on building or embellishing on a paper mask to create a wearable art piece. Students will be provided with a full form paper mask base to work off of if they so choose.
Students are invited to bring in their own mixed media materials and tools if they are excited to work with them, but materials will be available to use. The focus of this workshop is on storytelling through wearable art.
The students will be asked to keep in mind three ideas while creating;
Movement; How do the elements on the mask move? How do you move when wearing it? How do the different elements of the mask come together to create one movement?
Function; Can I see? Is it heavy? Is it hot?
Story; Focus on exploration and character. Who is this figure? Where do they come from? What is their story? How does this effect the materials used?
Workshop to conclude with participants sharing their completed works and they will be able to take them home.
