Magical Motion
An Interactive Art Experience

November 29th 2025 - January 3rd 2026

About Magical Motion

Warning! Disorienting Art Experience Ahead! It might take a minute, but your brain will adapt, and you’ll eventually find yourself swaying, moving, or even dancing with the art in this exhibit. You’ll never have more fun with a piece of art. The human brain is not trained to view this work that is created on our 3D Wall Sculpture platform, painted in Reverse Perspective, but your brain WILL “re-wire” and you’ll enjoy the unusual effects! The art becomes viewer interactive - you move right, it moves left; you move down, it moves up. You’ll soon be dancing to speed it up or slow it down.

To make the Exhibit even more absorbing, there are nine artists represented in the exhibit. While Northern California artists Anastasia Nelson and Phil Dynan lead the group, it includes works by local abstract artist Laura Hohlwein; works by Dutch hyper-realist artist Lorena Kloosterboer; portraits by International painter Stephen Bennett; the fanciful works of local legend Maija Peeples-Bright; an homage to London artist Patrick Hughes; and an Homage to Wayne Thiebaud (who was an art instructor to both Peeples-Bright and Nelson). The exhibit is augmented with intricate abstract metal sculptures by Chico’s Jim Woronow.

One work featured in the Exhibit is “The Tardis in the Land of Van Gogh” a 3D, interactive sculpture that won the “People’s Choice Award” at the California State Fair. A video of the sculpture at the Fair resulted in over 18 million views and comments on Tik Tok and Facebook.

Art by Hohlwein, Thiebaud, Bennett, Peeple-Bright, Hughes, and Kloosterboer is presented in “Portable Galleries” - 3D wall mounted sculptures invented by Dynan & Nelson. Hohlwein also has two large paintings in the exhibit, which otherwise features 2D art by Dynan & Nelson.

About Dynan & Nelson

Anastasia Nelson (Fair Oaks) and Phil Dynan (Sacramento) have been collaborating for over 30 years. They have spent the last nine years developing and painting the interactive art seen in this exhibition. But the Exhibit also features some of their 2D works. The two artists present works from several series of works, including “Furlandia”; “Electronica”; and “Magritte Animals”. The artists run an Animal Rescue & Shelter ls and “Furlandia” and Magritte Animals” have resulted from working with abandoned animals. Dynan, well known for his serigraphy, has included one serigraph triptych in the show - the “Golden Gate Bridge” - which took him, with an assist from Nelson, more than six months to silk screen an edition of 7. Dynan’s serigraphy has been featured in many sporting events, including several times in Sacramento’s California International Marathon. The artist also taught and exhibited art with the original “Roseville Arts Center”, long before it became the Blue Line Arts.
