Bring your family into the gallery on the First Saturday of each month to enjoy an art project as a family- drop-in arts and crafts activities are a great way for children to explore their creativity and dabble in a variety of different art mediums.
A Blue Line Arts team member will be on site to walk you through the steps of creating the project. Each month, a new project and art activity will be featured and inspired by the themes currently on display in the gallery. All materials, supplies and instruction will be provided. RSVP recommended, participation is FREE for first time guests and Blue Line Arts Family Members!
This month’s project is inspired by the upcoming show: Material As Kin and led by Cultural Resident Tiffany Adams
Tiffany Adams is a California Indigenous, Chemehuevi/Koyoomk’awi/Nisenan, multidisciplinary artist who believes that place-based arts and visual representation are crucial to community health and Native identity reclamation. Adams’ artistic practice includes painting, clothing, performance, jewelry, sculpture, and California red abalone in regalia and contemporary finery. By using a variety of art mediums, her work focuses on community engagement and education to cultivate a visual story that celebrates her deeply rooted sense of identity.
She received her BFA in Studio Arts (Painting and Jewelry with Honors) from the Institute of American Indian Arts with an Indigenous Liberal Studies minor.
Tiffany has exhibited artworks at the R.C. Gorman Museum at UC Davis, the Museum of Contemporary Native Art in Santa Fe, and received the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts Blue Ribbon. Her artworks have appeared in museums, galleries, and public spaces for 15+ years throughout California. Tiffany’s commissions have included Sacramento State Esactima Center, cover artwork for Ope’ by Yulu Ewis (2022), Abalone Woman painting for California Indian Legal Services (2020). Adams’s cultural exchange work includes; Toi Kiri World Indigenous Art Festival New Zealand 2023, City of Roseville Mural Camp 2023, Ancestral Ink in Santa Fe (2020), Ngā Uri Muturnag Tattoo Festival in New Zealand (2020), Sacramento Native American Health Center (2019) California Tribal College (2018), and NCORE New Orleans (2018). Recently, Adams served as the Chemehuevi Tribal Vice Chairwoman and council member.
