Blue Line Arts is looking for creative, personable, enthusiastic volunteers to help us with our day to day operations and beyond!

From answering phones to leading school tours, Blue Line Arts relies on volunteers to successfully operate the gallery’s diverse programs. We have ongoing volunteer opportunities for those who are able to commit one 4-hour shift a month for a minimum of 6 months.

Front Desk Attendant

  • Duties: Greet and assist visitors, educate visitors about gallery programs, answer phone and take messages, and assist with office work as needed.
  • Required skills: Proactive and comfortable seeking out visitor contact; friendly and outgoing; comfortable using telephone and computer programs.
  • Program schedule: Thursdays, 11am-2pm

Children’s Program Assistant

  • Duties: Assist art instructors by passing out materials, helping with set up and clean up, and keeping children focused on project.
  • Required skills: Some experience working with children; comfortable working with art materials; friendly and outgoing; assistant teaching experience helpful.
  • Program schedule: Days vary, year round

Special Events Volunteer

  • Duties: Greet and assist visitors, serve wine and food (must be 18+ to handle alcohol), assist with set up and clean up.
  • Required skills: Friendly and outgoing; comfortable talking to large groups of people.
  • Program schedule: 3rd Saturday every month, 5:30pm-9:30pm 

Gallery Maintenance

  • Duties: Organize storage rooms, patch gallery walls, handle repairs, clean facilities.
  • Required skills: Don't mind rolling up your sleeves; problem-solver; handyman.
  • Program schedule: Bi-weekly 


  • Duties: Provide clerical support to the staff via filing, research, data entry, bulk mailings, creating databases, etc.
  • Required skills: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; comfortable using computers; organized; detail oriented.
  • Program schedule: One day a week during open hours, Tuesday-Saturday 

Installation Assistant

  • Duties: Work with Curator and exhibition staff to prepare and disassemble exhibitions, including prepping and painting gallery, organizing contracts, handling artwork, and preparing labels for display.
  • Required skills: Organized; detail-oriented; prior experience handling art helpful.
  • Program schedule: Every 6 weeks when exhibitions change; Monday-Wednesday, 10am-3pm each day 

Outreach Volunteer

  • Duties: Assist with set up and clean up, manage children’s art activity, speak with public about Blue Line Arts
  • Required skills: Friendly and outgoing; some experience working with children; comfortable to speaking with large volumes of people.
  • Program schedule: Days vary, year round



For nearly 50 years, volunteers have been a valuable resource to the operations of our organization at Blue Line Arts.
